How to export a quiz from Gemini Notebook to Anki

First, install the NotebookLM Exporter Chrome extension linked on this page. Next, open NotebookLM Studio, select the completed quiz and wait for the quiz canvas to load. Locate the Export ▾ button at the top of the canvas beside the NotebookLM controls. Then, choose Anki to download the tab-separated study file. Finally, open Anki desktop, select File > Import, map the first field to Front and the second to Back, choose a deck and review the import preview.

Why export it?

Why export?

NotebookLM quizzes support immediate practice, while Anki schedules repeated recall over time. Manually turning every quiz item into an Anki note is slow and can mismatch the prompt and correct response.

Native option check

Can Gemini Notebook handle this export natively?

NotebookLM does not send completed quizzes directly to Anki. The extension creates UTF-8 tab-separated text for Anki's standard import process; Anki controls the note type, deck and scheduling after import.

Common follow-up questions

What people need to know before using this export

Does the exporter create an APKG file?

No. It creates tab-separated text for Anki's standard text-import workflow. Anki then creates cards using the note type and deck you select.

Why are the questions turned into cards?

Anki is a spaced-repetition system rather than a multiple-choice test runner. The quiz prompt becomes the retrieval cue and the answer becomes the card response.

What if equations look wrong in Anki?

Check the note type, HTML import option and Anki's LaTeX support. The destination controls final rendering after the text is imported.
